POLICE
& FIRE COMMISSION MEETING May 18, 2010

2. Mr. DeSorcy motioned, duly seconded by Mr. Durigan to approve the minutes of the meeting of May 18, 2010. The motion carried unanimously. 3. There was no one present to address the Commission. 4. The Police and Fire Commission members had no questions on the Correspondence. 5a Upon motion by Mr. Harlow, duly seconded by Mr. Sankey, the Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously to approve the vouchers. b. After some discussion, Mr. DeSorcy motioned, duly seconded by Mr. Sankey for the Fire Department to proceed with the DNR Grant request. The motion was unanimously approved. c. Mr. Harlow motioned, duly seconded by Mr. DeSorcy to approve the Police Department Locker Room Privacy Policy. The motion carried unanimously. d. Upon motion by Mr. Harlow, duly seconded by Mr. DeSorcy, the Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously to approve the Police Department Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Policy. e. Mr. Sankey motioned, duly seconded by Mr. Durigan to approve the Investigation of Citizen/Employee Conduct Complaints Policy and Procedure. The motion was unanimously approved. 5. Mr. Wierzba informed the Commission members' crashes are up a little, as well the over-time. The over-time is up due to two people on field training and some large update training, Taser and Firearms, for the officers at the Training Facility. Mr. Wierzba also stated that calls for services are leveling off. Officers Thomas and Graham are in the third phase of their Field Training. Mr. Wiezba also informed the Commission members May 4th-6th the Police Department will have a Basic TAC Training at the new Training Facility. There will be 17 participants from 8 different agencies and also a Taser update training, which will include 16 hrs. for instructors and 8-10 hours for officers. Mr. Kluck informed the Commission members they are moving forward on placement of the ambulance in Plover. He is working with Stevens Point Fire Department on hours and accommodations. Mr. Kluck notified the members he did attend the 2010 Congressional Fire Service Institute conference in Washington DC as a board member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Issued reviewed were a variety of Fire and EMS issues with members of Congress and State Senators. Mr. Kluck informed the Commissioners on May 5th the Fire Department hosted a vehicle strut training session, which was hands on training to Fire Department personnel. Mr. Kluck stated that as of to date there has been 53 Fire calls, 241 EMS calls and 4 Metro calls. Also both agencies have agreed to move forward with Stevens Point being in the Metro. Upon motion by Mr. DeSorcy, duly seconded by Mr. Durigan and unanimously approved the meeting was adjourned. ____________________________________________________ |
