POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETING

Present: Mr. Krommenacker, Mr. Sankey, Mr. Harlow and Mr. DeSorcy

Others: Mr. Mahoney, Mr. Wierzba, Mr. Kluck and Mr. Widder


1. Mr. Krommenacker called the meeting to order and all members were noted present with the exception of Mr. Durigan, who was excused.

2. Mr. Sankey motioned, duly seconded by Mr. DeSorcy to approve the minutes of the meeting of September 16, 2008. The motion was unanimously approved.

3. There was no one present to address the Commission.

4. The Police and Fire Commission member had no questions on the correspondence. Mr. Krommenacker did compliment the Police Department with reference to the correspondence on the good job they are doing.

5a. Upon motion by Mr. DeSorcy, duly seconded by Mr. Harlow, the Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously to approve the vouchers.

b. After some discussion, Mr. DeSorcy motioned, duly seconded Mr. Harlow to make a RECOMMENDATION TO VILLAGE BOARD to approve the Police Department 2009 budget. The motion carried unanimously.

c. After some discussion, Mr. DeSorcy motioned, duly seconded by Mr. Sankey to make a RECOMMENDATION TO THE VILLAGE BOARD to approve the Fire Department 2009 budget. The motion was unanimously approved. Mr. Mahoney wanted pass on from the Village Board a good job for keeping the costs down on both Police and Fire Department Budgets.

d-k Mr. DeSorcy motioned, duly seconded by Mr. Harlow, to approve the following Police Department policies; Property Inventory Policy, Motor Vehicle Impoundment Policy, Relinquishing Custody of a Newborn Policy, Department
Public Information Policy, Reserve Officer Policy, Sex Offender Registration Policy, Time System Policy, and Mobile Data Computer and ETime Systems Policies. The motion was carried unanimously.

l. Upon motion by Mr. Sankey, duly seconded by Mr. DeSorcy, the Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously to approve the Large Assembly Ordinance, Chapter 345 addition in the Bond Book.

5. Mr. Kluck reports the Fire Department has been very busy with Fire Prevention Week. Mr. Kluck informed the Commission member the Fire Department did receive the DNR Grant. Mr. Kluck wanted to recognize EMT Kathy Bruckbauer, who was awarded the Plover Unit - 2008 EMS Association Award and thank her for the hard work. Mr. Kluck also wanted to inform the member the Fire Department monthly report will be revised to include the Metro Fire and Rescue calls.

Mr. Wierzba reports the Police Department has been very busy. Mr. Wierzba informed the Commission members that Corporal Fox represented the Department as part of the Honor Guard for the funeral of Sgt. Timm from the Stevens Point Police Department and Corporal Fox has also received his second step increase for pay. Mr. Wierzba also wanted to update the members about the Pit Bull call from last month, a report was turned into the Humane Society and it was kids that had let the dog out.


6. Upon motion by Mr. Sankey, duly seconded by Mr. Harlow and unanimously approved by a roll call vote, the Police and Fire commission adjourned into closed Session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c) for the purpose of considering employment, compensation or performance evaluation of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
