On Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm the Cops and Bobbers program was held at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point. Through the combined effort of the Plover Police Department, Portage County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin DNR, and the Stevens Point Police Department the program was a success. 30 children of various ages showed up with family members to enjoy a day of free fishing. Each child received a "Fun bag" that contained various educational items from each department. The Stevens Point Police Department donated bicycle helmets for any child that needed one. Each child received a T-shirt as well.

After a 15-20 minute fishing safety speech by Warden Barry Meister, the children were set loose to fish. At approximately 11:00 am the participants ate hot dogs, hamburgers, cookies, chips, and orange drink (provided by McDonalds). While the participants were eating, 26 "door prizes" were handed out to the children. The prizes were bought with two $100 gift/donation cards provided by WalMart. The prizes included, fishing pole rod and reel combos, lanterns, camping chairs, water bottles, tackle boxes, flashlights, and a sleeping bag.

Volunteers for the program were from the Plover Police Department and Portage County Sheriff's Department employees and their family members.
