Recycling Brochure
Everyone must separate the recyclable materials designated
below from garbage or refuse collected by private haulers.
This will avoid wasting resources. Recyclables are picked
up at one and two-family dwellings and apartment buildings
along with regular refuse every other week as shown on the
2009 - 2010 recycling calendars on pages 10 & 11. Recycling
is mandatory for:
a. Glass containers (clear, brown
and green only)
b. Aluminum and Steel cans
c. Plastics (#1 clear, green, & pale blue bottles; #2
bottles, jugs (any color) ONLY with a threaded neck. (NO LONGER
accepting tubs, cups & pails)
d. Paper Items.(newsprint, telephone books, magazines/catalogs)
e. BUSINESSES & INSTITUTIONS ONLY: Office Paper
f. Cardboard: Corrugated
g. Waste Oil. (Put used motor oil in clear screw cap plastic
jug (max 2.5 gallon)
Note: Container board and mixed
paper may also be recycled, but are optional.
One and two-family dwellings
and apartment buildings with 4-units or less: Recyclables
are to be placed curbside in reusable bins or cans, maximum
size of 32 gallons- NO PLASTIC BAGS. Please label just one
of your bins/cans to identify your recyclables. Decals are
available at the Village Hall. Place refuse & recycling
bins at least 6 feet apart or place each set of bins on opposite
sides of the driveway.
Recyclable materials should be
placed curbside by 5:30 a.m. on scheduled days, but not sooner
than 24 hours prior to collection. Containers should be removed
from the curb within 24 hours after collection. As with refuse
collection, no pickups are scheduled on legal holidays, but
are scheduled for the following work day unless otherwise
announced.
Apartments buildings (5-units
and above) and Mobile Home Court owners or managers are responsible
for making arrangements with the Village's Waste Collection
contractor for appropriate containers for recyclable materials.
Residents in multi-family units should contact the apartment
owner or manager for recycling details.
For an additional fee to be paid
by the resident, Veolia Environmental Services will also pick
up old appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpeting, etc.,
but arrangements must be made in advance. These items will
be collected for a fee on the second Tuesday of each month.
Stickers to be placed on these items can be purchased at the
Village of Plover Municipal Center. Please call the Village
